Problem solving as an adventure?

I was thinking about it all wrong...

I just have to figure this out.

I’ll figure it out.

Welcome to the inside of my head whenever I’m faced with a problem I can’t solve.

And guess what?

I rarely figure it out when I think those thoughts.

I examined this pattern of thinking the other day while I was meditating in the sauna and decided it was time to reframe the thought!

I noticed ‘figuring it out’ feelt difficult and forced. Like I have to figure out a math problem. Doesn’t sound fun. It feels like I have to use a lot of energy and work at it.

Which I’m okay with, however, my subconscious brain hates working hard, and resists, thus, the problem doesn’t get figured out.

So I had to rework the programing.

So I considered my options…

Find my way through?

No.

Get this resolved?

No.

Navigate the problem?

Yes! That’s it!

I’m a navigator, on a journey to find my way over and around the obstacles, setting out on the seas of problem solving to find my way to the other side and dig up the gold!

It sets my mind at ease and makes the situation feel like less of a burden and more of a fun endeavor to pursue.

So now instead of:

“I have to figure this out”

it’s

“How do I navigate my way to the other side of the problem?”

I’ve found my problem solving ability drastically increase when I go down this line of thinking instead of the line of thinking I was previously following.

Solutions just seem to flow, and taking action on them seems like a fun challenge instead of a loathsome burden.

Let’s navigate some problems together!
