I realized my curse was actually blessing
When being forgetful works to your advantage
I want to remember EVERYTHING!
… Or do I?
I’d like to at least remember everything I learn, and every measurement I take.
But recently, I came to the realization that remembering everything comes at a serious cost.
If you remember it all, you remember it ALL.
All the times someone slighted you, all the times you messed up, and each time you pissed someone off.
It's all there, eating away at you.
I'm lucky I forget; stuff just drifts away. If my memories of every event in my life stayed stuck in my mind, I wouldn't do anything, ever.
For instance, making people angry can paralyze me and will ruin my sleep for a day or two. So remembering each time I angered someone would make it feel like they are still angry at me for that thing I did, even though they definitely forgot about it years ago.
Thus, I’m quite glad I don’t remember a lot, it keeps me sane.
Although at the very least it would be great if I could just remember your name after the first time you told it to me
